Ferritic 441 stainless steel square tube is engineered for exhaust and hot gas ducting where repeated heating and cooling destroys ordinary austenitic grades. The grade combines about 18 percent chromium with a dual stabilisation of niobium and titanium, which locks up carbon and nitrogen so that chromium carbide cannot precipitate at the grain boundaries during welding or service.
